Colorado's oldest and largest ACLU Chapter, the Boulder County American Civil Liberties Union is a non-profit, non-partisan public interest organization.  We work with and through our community to protect the civil liberties of Boulder County residents. For over fifty years, we have and continue to work on behalf of the rights of individuals that arise from unconstitutional government policies or actions.  Our mission includes educating Boulder County residents and organizations on the extent and applicability of their constitutional rights, working with city and county government to advocate on behalf of citizens rights and constitutional guarantees, and aiding these communities in developing a better understanding of these rights in specific contexts and situations.

We are a community-minded organization and often take on advocacy projects that are brought to us by voices in the Boulder County community. Please contact us and/or join us at one of our monthly board meetings if you are seeking non-legislative support/advocacy or information about protecting your constitutional rights.

We do not, however, represent clients or file lawsuits--only the state ACLU office can threaten or conduct litigation. If you believe you are in need of such assistance, please contact the state office.
