Seventh Day Adventist Prisoner Receives Proper Religious Diet

Description:

A Seventh-Day Adventist imprisoned in the Colorado Department of Corrections finally received a religious diet after the ACLU of Colorado communicated with prison authorities on the prisoner’s behalf. The prisoner had repeatedly requested a diet in accord with his religious beliefs; however, he was not granted the appropriate religious diet. The prisoner complained that for months he had been unable to eat portions of the regular prison meals that would have violated his religious tenets, and that he had experienced health problems and lost significant weight as a result. When the prisoner finally began receiving his religious diet after the ACLU of Colorado’s intervention, he stated, “My gratitude is expressed to you for your time and energy regarding these issues.”
