The Rev. Marvin L. Booker Commemorative Gathering
Saturday, July 9, 2011 - 1:00pm - 2:00pm
On July 9, 2011, the one-year anniversary of the murder of Rev. Marvin L. Booker, Shorter African Methodist Episcopal Church, the American Civil Liberties Union of Colorado, the Denver Branch NAACP and members of the Booker Family held a commemorative gathering at the Van Cise-Simonet Detention Center, located at 490 W. Colfax Avenue.
Watch a short video about the event here:

The gathering memorialized the life and legacy of Rev. Booker, focus attention on others impacted by police brutality, and serve as a Call-to-Action, urging swift change in the culture of policing in our city.

Police brutality is killing us.
Together --in memory of Rev. Booker and other victims of excessive force -- we can do something about it.
