Colorado Springs
Welcome to the chapter page for the Colorado Springs ACLU, representing ACLU members from El Paso and Teller counties. You'll find news and information here about who we are and what we do. Let us know what you think, and if you want to get involved, contact us, or come to one of our meetings or events. We're glad you dropped by!
We serve as a regional watchdog for civil liberties, seeking to correct unconstitutional government policies or actions. This can mean advocating for the rights of protestors at public events like last year's St. Patrick's Day parade, or hosting public forums on pressing civil liberties issues. Our goal is always to raise public awareness of policies or practices that infringe or suppress our Constitutional rights.
Although a local ACLU chapter like ours does not represent clients or file lawsuits—only the state ACLU office can threaten or conduct litigation—our chapter has had great success with many advocacy efforts that do not require litigation.
