The ACLU of Colorado filed this lawsuit against the country’s largest private extradition company, TransCor America, on behalf of a female prisoner that the company transported from Texas to Colorado in March, 1998. The suit alleges that she suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of a sexual assault perpetrated by a TransCor guard during the drive. The complaint states that TransCor assigned an all-male crew for the extradition despite similar incidents, similar lawsuits, and a company policy that required the presence of at least one female guard. The plaintiff obtained a substantial monetary settlement in 2002.
