Julie Reiskin is a leader in the Colorado disability community serving as Co-Executive Director of the Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition, a statewide social justice organization. Her passion is ensuring that people who are closest to the pain get closest to the power and the organization’s motto of “nothing about us without us...EVER,” guides the work. Julie's career has focused on bringing the voice of the disability community into policymaking at the legislative and executive levels. She has led CCDC to develop expertise on client empowerment, provide disability cultural competency training, and focus on the intersection of equity issues for people with disabilities based on additional identities. Julie's background is in community organizing and policy analysis. Previous work has included positive youth development, addressing violence against women, and HIV/AIDS prevention. Anti-racism work has been woven into all aspects of her life. She is also an adjunct faculty member at the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work. She serves on the Boards of the Legal Services Corporation, The Denver Foundation, The National Pain Advocacy Center, and is very honored to serve on the board of the Colorado affiliate of the ACLU.
