FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 10, 2001
American Civil Liberties Union Foundation of Colorado (ACLU of Colorado) is pleased to announce a grant award of $15,000 from the Gill Foundation for general operating support. This grant will support the entire range of litigation, education and advocacy work of the ACLU of Colorado.
ACLU of Colorado is a statewide organization dedicated to the preservation of individual freedom and governmental restraint. The goal is to protect and defend the constitutionally guaranteed rights of all Coloradans through litigation, education, and advocacy.
According to Sue Armstrong, Executive Director, "We are pleased to receive this grant from the Gill Foundation. The grant will support so much of the work we do, especially in defense of those in our lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered (LGBT) Colorado communities. This grant enables ACLU Foundation of Colorado to continue educating and involving the public in civil liberties issues."
"We are pleased to be able to continue to support the American Civil Liberties Union Foundation of Colorado," said Marielle Oetjen, Gill Foundation Program Officer. "In the past, we have provided program-specific support for your LGBT work. This year we would like to provide general operating support in the recognition that the work of ACLU of Colorado affects LGBT communities both indirectly and directly, and in the recognition of the benefits of our continued partnership."
