Everyone in this country has the right to be included in the promises and protections of the Constitution, regardless of their sexual orientation and gender identity.
The ACLU of Colorado works for equal rights and legal protections against discrimination and harassment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. We are committed to securing marriage equality for same-sex couples and have successfully defended the rights of LGBT parents, not only in custody and visitation arrangements but also by challenging discriminatory laws that restrict the rights of LGBT people to parent. We work to include gender identity in nondiscrimination laws and are also working to make public schools safe and bias-free for LGBT students. We argued a successful suit to defeat Colorado’s discriminatory Amendment 2 all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.
