This bill declares protecting religious freedom from government intrusion as a state interest of the highest order.The bill defines "sincerely held religious beliefs or moral convictions"regarding the sex of people who may marry and the belief that biological sex is that which is assigned at birth to be protected beliefs. This bill would prohibit the state government from taking legal action against people or religious organizations that make certain decisions based on the above beliefs. These include decisions related to the following: employment, housing, adoption or foster care service, provision of medical and psychological treatments and services - including sex reassignment surgeries, provisions of goods and services, implementation of sex-specific dress codes, rules regarding access to bathrooms, marriage license authorization, marriage solemnization, and performance of marriages. The definition of a person under this bill includes religious organizations and corporations, as well as real individuals.
